大家好。
Today is the fourth day of the Aspirations to End Adversity.
今天是除障祈愿共修的第四天。
Today, the next we will recite together is the Sutra of the Medicine Buddha.
今天大家一起念诵的是《药师经》。
In the Tibetan Kangur, there are two sutras of the Medicine Buddha, one long and one short.
在西藏的《甘珠尔》当中,有长的短的两部《药师经》。
The long one teaches about the pure realms,aspirations,and so forth of the Medicine Buddha as well as those of the other seven tathagatas——-Well-Renowned Name and so forth.
长的《药师经》当中,提到药师佛和“善名称吉祥王如来”等等药师七佛诸佛的净土和大愿。
The sutra we will recite today is the shorter one.This teaches the past aspirations and the pure realm of the Medicine Buddha.
今天我们念诵的是短的《药师经》,当中提到了药师佛往昔的大愿和净土。
In Chinese, there is also a Medicine Buddha Sutra translated by the Indian master Dharmagupta and others,which teaches the names of the Medicine Buddha and 8 bodhisattvas.
在中国,由印度论师达摩笈多等人所翻译的《药师如来本愿经》,经中提到药师佛,和八大菩萨的名号。
In 8th century Tibet,during the Dharma King Trisong Detsen’s reign, Shantarakshita composed three sutra rituals of the Medicine Buddha——one long,one medium,and one short.
西藏八世纪中,赤松德赞王的时候,静命论师依照藏王的指示撰写了广、中、略的三部药师显教仪轨。
Later,when Atisha came to Tibet, it is said that he wrote at Toding Temple the praises with one stanza for each of the seven tathagatas and a well-known one-stanza praise of the Medicine Buddha,”O Bhagavan,you are equally compassionate to all…”
之后,阿地峡尊者到达西藏的时候,据说在托林寺中,撰写了著名的“名号华……”等等七佛各自的赞文和“药师大悲遍群生……”的药师赞文。
Kadampa monasteries held the sutra rituals of the Medicine Buddha in high esteem,and because of this,Tibetan philosophical colleges always recited the sutra ritual of the Medicine Buddha,even though reciting too many pujas could create an obstacle to study and was generally discouraged.
总之,在噶当派各大寺当中,都很注重药师显教仪轨,因此,西藏各大显教学院,虽然认为修太多法,会障碍闻思的学习,因而禁止过多修法,但是,还是一定会修持药师佛显教仪轨。
At this time,when the coronavirus pandemic is raging across the globe,we are not only experiencing difficulties with physical health;there is also the mental hardship of feeling deprived of hoy.
现在,新冠肺炎在世界各地蔓延,不仅危害外在生理上的健康,更造成内在心理上很大的痛苦。
When the body is unhealthy, the mind cannot be happy.
身体不健康,心情也不会愉快。
But being healthy physically does not necessarily mean that we will feel happy mentally.
然而,就算一个人身体健康,心情也不一定是快乐的。
Thus mental happiness is more valuable than physical health.
因此,我觉得心理上的幸福感,是比生理上的健康更加有价值的。
Though the vast aspirations the Medicine Buddha made in the past,through his indomitable courage and boundless compassion,it is very important for us to inspire ourselves and train in relieving all our own and other’s physical and mental illnesses and in strengthening our love for one another and our benevolent wishes.
因此,我们应该效法药师佛往昔的大愿,无畏的勇气,凭借药师佛大悲的加持,努力平息自他一切众生,身心上所有的病痛,并且增进相互的关爱之情,互助互惠,这样去实践是很重要的。
Normally,we only remember to recite the Medicine Buddha Sutra and mantra when we get a little sick and pay it little attention otherwise.
一般我们都是在身体有些不舒服的时候才会想到要念《药师经》、药师佛咒语,平时并不是很注重。
But this Medicine Buddha Sutra is not about medicine or treatment.It speaks of the manifold,vast aspirations or commitments the Medicine Buddha made for the sake of other sentient beings.
《药师经》在说的,不是服药、治病的方式,如果好好去阅读,会看到药师佛为了利益众生,发起了很多的大愿和誓言。
It is important to see whether those can have an effect on our mind and whether it can encourage us to practice virtue.
这些大愿要感动到自己,鼓励到自己起身行善,这是非常重要的。
Next,please join me in reciting the Medicine Buddha Sutra with the kind intention of bringring benefit to all sentient beings.
接下来,让我们生起善心,发愿利益一切众生,念诵《药师经》。
